Nació el 5 de abril de 1941 y comenzó a tocar la guitarra a los cuatro años, de la mano de su padre. A los siete años ganó su primer premio, por una presentación en la sección artística de Radio Mitre. Con sólo 16 años fue incluido como solista en la orquesta del Teatro Argentino de La Plata. Integrante del mítico Quinteto de Astor Piazzolla, Tirao trabajó entre otros con Osvaldo Tarantino, Dino Saluzzi y Rodolfo Mederos, acompañó a Josephine Baker y dejó grabados cerca de 40 discos, uno de los cuales vendió un millón de placas. Además es autor de numerosas composiciones propias, dentro de ellas el Concierto para Guitarra y Orquesta Sinfónica "Conciertango Buenos Aires", creado a instancias del genial concertista español Joaquín Rodrigo y que estrenó en Bélgica en 1985.

Almost an hour with authentic 'mariachi' music, directly from Mexico. Mariachi Vargas (de Tecalitlan) is the most famous mexican folkloric group created in 1897 by Gaspar Vargas. The 'mariachi' sound is very characteristic and typically maxican. Trumpets, violins, guitars, guitarrons and vihuelas create a happy atmosphere immediately recognizable.
