Surfer Rosa is often cited as a favorite of music critics, and is frequently included on professional lists of the all-time best rock albums. Many alternative rock artists, including Billy Corgan, Rivers Cuomo and PJ Harvey, have cited the album as inspirational; Nirvana's Kurt Cobain frequently acknowledged that Surfer Rosa was a strong influence on Nevermind, and in 1993 hired Albini to produce his band's album In Utero.

To follow up their 1988 classic Surfer Rosa, the Pixies brought Gil Norton (Echo & The Bunnymen, Patty Smith, Foo Fighters) on board to produce. The result, 1989's Doolittle (only their second full LP and major-label debut) was an equally brilliant if not superior release to its predecessor. A full-on sensory audio roller coaster, these forty minutes are both a benchmark and timeless monument, mixing surf-pop, alternative and grunge with schizophrenic pacing and lulls-to-head banging jolts.

"Blues in Orbit" seems to get overlooked when Ellington's best albums are discussed, but it is a real keeper. There are 11 tracks, none of them is longer than 4:50 and it is all good stuff. There are some familiar favorites like "In a Mellotone" and "C Jam Blues" as well as less often heard gems like "Blues in Blueprint and "Sweet and Pungent".

The featured performers include Ellington stalwarts Johnny Hodges, Ray Nance, Harry Carney and Jimmy Hamilton, as well as the less familiar Booty Wood and Matthew Gee. Johnny, in particular is well showcased here, taking the lead in the rousing, "Smada", which is probably my favorite track. Ray shines on his trumpet, but also gets to play the violin on "C Jam Blues". [customer review on a music store website]

Blues in Orbit was the only SACD released by the original Mobile Fidelity company just before they went under.
The SACD high-res quality reveals a lively sound picture, and it's excellent remastering blows away all CD versions.

Foghat's best studio album, a platinum seller, contains the hit singles "Slow Ride" and "Fool For The City".

Foghat are a British rock band who had their peak success in the mid- to late-1970s. Their style can be described as "Blues-Rock", dominated by electric and electric slide guitar. The band has achieved five gold records. The group remained popular during the disco era, but their popularity waned in the early 1980s.

Love - Da Capo (1967) SACD 2013 [Only CD Layer]

Love broadened their scope into psychedelia on their sophomore effort, Arthur Lee's achingly melodic songwriting gifts reaching full flower. The six songs that comprised the first side of this album when it was first issued are a truly classic body of work, highlighted by the atomic blast of pre-punk rock "Seven & Seven Is" (their only hit single), the manic jazz tempos of "Stephanie Knows Who," and the enchanting "She Comes in Colors," perhaps Lee's best composition (and reportedly the inspiration for the Rolling Stones' "She's a Rainbow"). It's only half a great album, though; the seventh and final track, "Revelation," is a tedious 19-minute jam that keeps Da Capo from attaining truly classic status.

The Pixies - Bossanova (1990) [MFSL Ultradisc UHR™ SACD, 2008] RESTORED

SACD: ISO | PS3 Rip | SACD DSD64 2.0 / 5645 kbps | 1,61 GB (RARs Size - 1,26 GB)

Released on August 13th, 1990, Bossanova was the Pixies' third release and was their second time collaborating with independent English producer Gil Norton. The album departed from the "unpredictable" signature sound of the Pixies and is considered their first thematic project. All the original songwriting on Bossanova is by leader Black Francis (Frank Thompson), who ultimately reveals his twisted interpretation of surf music combined with his fascination of aliens and UFOs. The end result is Bossanova, often described as a surf-space rock album that touched upon new heights for the Pixies.

1973 Landmark Set a Profoundly Influential Record on Country, Folk, and Rock Genres. Influential doesn’t begin to capture the scope, legacy, and brilliance of Gram Parsons’ GP. By wedding traditional country threads with folk, soul, and rock fabrics, the singer/guitarist unconsciously gave birth to a new subgenre that would later evolve into what we now know as country-rock and Americana.
