Music from the television series "Miami Vice" starring Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas which ran on NBC from 1984-1989. The series was notable for its use of contemporary popular music, and for being one of the first shows regularly broadcast in stereo. By design, the show often resembled a music video rather than a standard Police Procedural. Extended musical sequences were common, often featuring little or no dialogue and numerous images of cars, boats, guns, nightlife, and scenery. The show was filmed on location in Miami, and made use of a distinctive color palette, mostly white and pastels.

Wikipedia:Jan Hammer (born 17 April 1948, in Prague, then Czechoslovakia, today part of the Czech Republic). His compositions have won him several Grammy awards. He is probably best known for playing keyboards with the Mahavishnu Orchestra in the early 70s, as well as his "Miami Vice Theme" and "Crockett's Theme", from the popular 1980s US television program, Miami Vice. Hammer has collaborated with some of the era's most influential musicians such as Jeff Beck, Al Di Meola, Mick Jagger, Carlos Santana, Stanley Clarke, Neal Schon, and Elvin Jones among many others. He has composed and produced at least 14 original motion picture soundtracks, the music for 90 episodes of Miami Vice and 20 episodes of the popular British television series Chancer.

I Righeira sono un gruppo musicale italiano formato da Michael, all'anagrafe Stefano Rota (Torino 1º ottobre 1961) e Johnson, Stefano Righi (Torino 9 settembre 1960). Al loro esordio infatti si fecero conoscere come Michael & Johnson Righeira. Michael e Johnson, come loro stessi spiegarono, erano i soprannomi che aveva dato loro il professore di educazione fisica delle superiori (probabilmente ispirandosi agli attori Don Johnson e Philip Michael Thomas della serie televisiva Miami Vice).
