A biography of the American rock band The Beach Boys, with interviews, concert footage and clips from movies and television shows they appeared in.

Ce film documentaire réalisé par Malcolm Leo retrace la vie de ce groupe. En mélangeant avec intelligence les documents d'archives (émissions télé) avec les films 8mm familiaux (où l'on voit, entre autres, Paul McCartney à un goûter d'anniversaire chez les Wilson). Leo nous fait pénétrer dans l'intimité des BEACH BOYS. En regardant la vie de ces musiciens par la petite lorgnette, on se rend compte que cette vie de rêve à laquelle le public croit s'est accompagnée de quelques moments cauchemardesques (dépression, drogue, etc.) . Il y a également quelques séquences cocasses, notamment celle où Brian Wilson, du fond de son lit avoue, ne pas savoir surfer !
