This work led to Ellington one of many collaborations made during the 60's with other great jazz musicians and to Coltrane was an opportunity to collaborate with one of the great jazz musicians of all time. Despite the union of these two artists so stylistically different the result continues to be something more than a musical uniqueness, but also an important record of the history of jazz that unifies the best of both musical stylings. The quartet structure is configured sometimes recording with bass and drummer of Duke or Coltrane.

Among the numerous filmed performances by the Ellington band, this phenomenal London concert stands out for many reasons. The first one is that it contains the only complete performance of Duke's Harlem Suite on film. Written in 1950, this extended piece was first intended to be premiered by Arturo Toscanini conducting the NBC Symphony Orchestra. The premiere, however, was postponed indefinitely for various reasons and never actually took place.

Since the great Ella Fitzgerald song book there have been few singers who have challenged themselves with the works of Duke Ellington. Kirsten Cornwell, Australian singer residing in Belgium since 2004, brings the music of “The Duke” with a deep respect for tradition and brand new arrangements by composer Michel Bisceglia.
